A Neat Analogy about Science

From Newsvine, in a conversation about the Texas SBoE trying to push creationism into the schools, the commenter sky dog made the following analogy:

I've made the analogy before that the true scientific facts are like a statue, and we are in the continual process of carving into the rock to meet the truth, the statue held prisoner within.  Disproved hypotheses would be like the chips falling away during the process of sculpting. 

And religious cosmology, as it applies to science, is a chunk of rock that has already fallen to the floor.
